Updating Nokia N70 firmware

Whew, just finished updating the firmware on my Nokia N70. (Firmware is the operating software that comes loaded on your device from the manufacturer.) The process took around 10 minutes, but it was really nerve-racking, considering the fact that any goof-up would render my smartphone as useful as a brick.

The update process was relatively simple. However, after installation, most of my customised settings were wiped off and I had to start almost everything from scratch. The worst part was that all Java apps stopped working, including Gmail Mobile and Opera Mini, my favourite mobile apps of all time. Guess, I will have to do everything all over again. Ah, what the heck??? Nokia, are you listening???

Marketing the Nike way

With the Fifa World Cup making headlines everyday, you can expect the big sports companies to do something different to make you sit up and take notice. Adidas is the official sponsor of the 2006 championships, but Nike is not known for being a passive spectator either.

At Brigade Road in Bangalore, India which is one of the busiest places in the Software City, Nike has placed a giant football on a sedan, seemingly as if somebody hit it up there. And the Nike Swoosh is hard to miss!

P.S: I apologise for the horrible picture quality, it was taken on my outdated mobile phone camera. Still worth shooting anyway!

P.P.S: It is indeed a busy place in the city. I took the snap during an early morning walk.
